Love Circle Journal

Love Circle Journal

This is a 2 page spread for a circle journal page swap group on, all the pages in this group are to be hand drawn.

The theme of this particular spread is 'Love, with handwritten thoughts', so i decided to do a portrait of my hubby Stewart; as he is the first thing that springs to mind when i think of love. The handwritten notes refer to what loves means to me; especially when i think of my hubby.

Portrait drawn with Prismacolour pencils, hearts and notes in sharpie maker, with additonal coloured pencil work to finish off.

This is the first circle journal pages I've every made, and I'm very happy with them. They were created for a circle journal page swap on; the theme of the group was 'coloured media' anything as long as it was coloured and had some hand drawn or painted elements.

Orchids was the theme for this 2 page spread. Searched the Internet for pictures to give me inspiration ( and an idea of what orchids look like) and then drew the orchids. Background is a mixture of Prismacolor pencils and oil pastels. Orchids are painted in Twinkling H20 paints with details added with Sharpie ultra fine tip markers. Finally added a few drops of Ranger's Glossy Accents to give the impression of water droplets.

'Wings' Circle Journal Page

All of the pages created for the groups members are to be Mixed Media featuring some collage elements.

The theme of this spread was wings, so i went with the first things that popped into my head when i thought of wings; birds, angels, butterflies, airmail.

I worked on the background with Pearl Ex powders mixed with gum arabic and water in a spray bottle, until i had got rid of most of the white paper. Then i collaged the main elements; the owl (which is a photo printed onto vellum and then embossed from behind to give some texture), the angel (also printed onto vellum) and the sections of envelopes which i had kept as i loved the bird postage stamps on them.

I then drew the butterfly, this is the part of the page i had no plan for; i just started to draw and a butterfly emerged. As for the colours, the blues had been dictated by the owl and angels background colours; the red i used as i wanted some contrast in the layout, and it also echoed the splashes of red on the airmail envelope scrap i had used.

Behind the top wing of the butterfly is a revolving disc (old mini disc) which i drew hearts with wings on. I added this disc as i wanted some movement in the page, after all wings are not much good if they don't move!

The final elements i added to the page was the little butterflies (taken from an embellishment booklet and coloured with glitter gel pens) and the word 'Wings'

Welcome to the slightly mad world of me, Mrs Weyremaster aka Suzi.
I love art and spend most of my time creating in one way or another.
At the moment I'm spending a lot of time drawing and painting, mainly working on ATCs and Circle Journal Pages. I love drawing and adding colour in whatever way i can think of; at the moment I'm addicted to using my Prismacolor Pencils and my Sharpie permanent markers.
