Time flys when you having Fun.....

I can hardly believe it, but six years ago today I married the most adorable, kind-hearted and handsome man; I never thought i would be this lucky.
We've been through alot in the last six years, especially the last couple, with Stewart's health problems, so I consider myself to be very lucky. I married my soulmate, and i'm so thankful for that.  Here's the card I made for Stewart to celebrate Our Anniversary...
I used the super cute Scottish Ian & Sassenach Anya from TGF with a sentiment from StampInsanity.  I found this tartan paper a while ago, and it's very similar to the McKenzie tartan, so perfect for this card.  I cut out my sentiment and airbrushed the heart with my letraset airbrush kit, and added some green pearls.  To finish it all off I added some dark green organza ribbon, and red roses.

I'm very happy to say that Stewart loved the card, and we've had a lovely anniversary.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend

StampInsanity Challenge #24 - Lace it Up, with Stitches...

This week we are Lacing It Up ~ With Stitching!  Faux, true or otherwise cool stitching and some lovely lace is the name of the game this week! Here's my card for this weeks challenge...
For my card I used the beautiful Pierrette from the Les Coquettes Collection she is definately one of my favourite images to work with, so pretty and romantic, perfect for so many occasions.  To create my background I took a piece of lace from my fabric scrap bag and layered it over a piece of lime green card, sticking it very securely on the back.  I then took a piece of dark orange cardstock, and trimmed it to fit at the bottom of my lace panel, I also trimmed a piece to layer my image on.  Then using a doily lace border punch, i created my lace border detail on the dark orange cardstock.  My lace panel is then attatched to the dark orange piece with some green cord (using a couple of large stitches), before i adhered it to an orange card blank using some foam pads to give dimension.  My image is coloured with promarkers and then layered onto the orange card stock before being layered onto my card.  To finish it all off I added some faux stitching and some green heart gems.

Thank you for visiting with me today, and don't forget to check out the luscious creations the rest of the Groovy Gurlz have made for your inspiration.

Pixie Dust Challenge Time :)

This weeks challenge is called  " Stitch it Up "
Faux or the real thing! Stitching and sewing is the "in" thing to do right now!
For my challenge card I had great fun using Frankie's Bride and Just Batty from the newly released Funhouse Collection.  My images are coloured with promarkers, and then airbrushed with black promarker and some blender pen added to give a grungy feel. I added faux stitching to my paper pieced background, and finished my card off with a threaded ribbon border and bow.

Thanks for stopping by and remember to check out the creations from the rest of the Pixies, you don't want to miss out on any of their magical creations.

Meet the newest additon to the McKenzie Clan...

His name is Bagpuss, and he's 3 yrs old, Cleo our oldest cat (12/13yrs) seems to like him, Alice isn't too sure (she's 2yrs).  Alice was getting a little too bossy, so we decided that we needed to add a little boy to our family, altho he's not that little.  He's gorgeous, quite timid still, but has a very loud purr.

Thanks for stopping by, have a wonderful day

Burtonesque Dolls Challenge#16 - Vincent

This week, we have a fun one for you: VINCENT

Admittedly, many of us hadn't seen the video for this, but once we did, we were hooked! So this week's challenge is to take a paragraph from the poem and use it for the basis of your card or project.

"Her anger now spent, she walked out through the hall
And while Vincent backed slowly against the wall
The room started to swell, to shiver and creak
His horrid insanity had reached its peak"

To create my Vincent, i did a little digital altering on a couple of TGF Digistamps; I used Wild Sprout Jeremy for most of my image, I replaced his hair with that of Wild Sprout Edward.  I deleted Jeremy's shirt and tshirt collar, adding in some stripes to create a more burtonesque top for Vincent.  I printed Vincent onto photo paper, and then coloured with my promarkers.

The rest of my card is very simple, I printed a background paper from Tangie Baxter's Wonderland Collection I then trimmed this and layered it onto a gloss black card blank.

I hope you like my creation, make sure you pop along to the Burtonesque Dolls blog to see what the rest of the dolls have created for your inspiration.

On a personal note, could I ask that you send your prayers of support to my BFF Ju, whose husband died suddenly yesterday morning.  I still can't believe it, and wish i could do something to take away the pain that Ju and her family are feeling.
Take Care please

Oh Alice! - CHAPTER 26: Sizin' up a Sketch...

"The Caterpillar was the first to speak.

`What size do you want to be?' it asked.

`Oh, I'm not particular as to size,' Alice hastily replied; `only one doesn't like changing so often, you know.'

`I DON'T know,' said the Caterpillar.

Alice said nothing: she had never been so much contradicted in her life before, and she felt that she was losing her temper.

`Are you content now?' said the Caterpillar.

`Well, I should like to be a LITTLE larger, sir, if you wouldn't mind,' said Alice: `three inches is such a wretched height to be.'

`It is a very good height indeed!' said the Caterpillar angrily, rearing itself upright as it spoke (it was exactly three inches high).

`But I'm not used to it!' pleaded poor Alice in a piteous tone. And she thought of herself, `I wish the creatures wouldn't be so easily offended!'

`You'll get used to it in time,' said the Caterpillar; and it put the hookah into its mouth and began smoking again..."

This week we are sizing up a GREAT sketch by JEN and the main panel just HAPPENS to be THREE. INCHES. TALL.  :)  Now, of course you don't have to stick to this if your image won't fit, but we didn't want to anger Mr. Caterpillar by saying that Three inches wasn't a respectable height, so here's the sketch:
 and here is my card

For my card this week I used the gorgeous Alice in Wonderland stickers that i received a few weeks ago, they are available at EAD Designs and are so easy and fun to use.

I must admit this is one of the quickest cards i've made, I simply followed the sketch, layered my papers, and added some faux stitching and black pearls to finish it off.

Don't forget to stop by the Oh, Alice! Challenge blog to see what the rest of the twisted tea drinkers have created for you.

Have a wonderful week, and don't lose your head :)

A Pretty Pink Pixie Dust Challenge...

Sorry I'm late with this post, but it was my birthday yesterday, so i got a little behind with my blogging.  I had a wonderful day, and got to see lots of my favourite people, so it was a special day :)

I was also lucky enough to get to choose this week's Pixie Dust Challenge, so of course i had to go with my very favourite thing, the colour pink; so this weeks challenge is to make a very pink card.  Here is my card...

I used the very pretty 'August Pixie' I printed her out quite large, and coloured her with my promarkers.  I also got to play with one of my birthday presents on this card, my wonderful hubby Stewart bought me a mini compressor to use with my Letraset Airbrush kit. So I airbrushed some of the background papers and August Pixie's hair and shoes.  I think I like the effect, but i definately need to practise more, which will be fun!

Thank you for visiting with me, and a massive thank you to all of the people that left me birthday messages; I love you all, and am very blessed to have you all in my life.

Take Care

Oh Alice! CHAPTER 25: White Rabbit, White Gloves, White Wonderland...

"After a time she heard a little pattering of feet in the distance, and she hastily dried her eyes to see what was coming. It was the White Rabbit returning, splendidly dressed, with a pair of white kid gloves in one hand and a large fan in the other: he came trotting along in a great hurry, muttering to himself as he came, `Oh! the Duchess, the Duchess! Oh! won't she be savage if I've kept her waiting!'
Alice felt so desperate that she was ready to ask help of any one; so, when the Rabbit came near her, she began, in a low, timid voice, `If you please, sir--' The Rabbit started violently, dropped the white kid gloves and the fan, and skurried away into the darkness as hard as he could go..."

~Alices Adventures in Wonderland, Chapter 2

We are back in the WHITE heat of August with another fabulous challenge for you today! This week at Oh, Alice we are trying to BEAT that heat, and you know, they say you shouldn't wear dark colors this time of year to keep cool!

In the spirit of that, along with our WHITE Rabbit and his WHITE kid gloves, guess what our challenge is for you today?

That's RIGHT. WHITE WONDERLAND. And we're not talkin' about Christmas! Your mission today, should you choose to accept it is to create (WITH the exception of your main image panel) an ALL WHITE card or project!

Now this has to be one of the most challenging cards i've made, limiting myself to just white was very difficult.  I did cheat a little, I used cream roses, as i didn't have any white ones. I used the gorgeous 20's Evie from Tickled Pink Stamps.  The Lil Lolita images are available as digital stamps for a limited time, so if you want them you better get them quick, I know I made sure I got them all.

The rest of my card is pretty basic, I created my card base from some pearlescent white cardstock.  I then embossed two 4" x 8" pieces of the same card with my new 'Rays' embossing folder.  I stuck my embossed pieces of card together with some white ribbon, and added some paper roses to the holes in the ribbon.  Evie is printed onto photopaper, coloured with a 'Satin' Promarker, and then cut out.  I punched some frond branches from the cardstock, and added them to the card with a large rose, some asters and rose buds.

I'm really pleased with how this card turned out, using a limited colour scheme isn't always easy, but i think i managed to make it work.  I can't wait to see what wonderful white wonderland creations you come up with for this weeks challenge.

Thank you for visiting with me, Have a Great Weekend

The Pixies are as Cute as a Button...

This week's Pixie Dust Studio challenge is themed...
"Cute as a Button"
We would love to see as many buttons as you would like on your cards or projects!
For my card I used the super cute 'Gnome Playtime' image from the new Gnome World collection.  Such a sweet image, and so versatile.  I kept my card very simple, i used two varigated cardstocks and a lovely lilac polka dot paper to create my background. I colour my image with Promarkers, and used the blender pen to add some lighter spots to the gnomes outfit and the little bird.  I actually picked the buttons out for this card before anything else, I've had them in my stash for a little while now, and thought they were really cute and perfect for this challenge.

Thanks for visiting, and don't forget to check out the rest of the Pixie's Cute Creations, can't wait to see what you all come up with. Have Fun

Simply Betty Stamps is also providing the prize this week: all 6 new Victorian Digis!!
Simply Betty Stamps
The Victorian Beauties images will be released and available for purchase at Simply Betty Stamps later this week, and the Dolls have been invited to participate in the Release Hop on August 6th! Woot woot! So be sure to join us at the SBS Blog on Friday for more fun and chances to win the new digis!
I had great fun with this card, firstly I discovered this really cool 'Wonderland' Digital Scrapbooking Collection at designed and created by Tangie Baxter , which I had to purchase, the papers alone are gorgeous and worth the money, you really must check it out.  Anyway I used one of the papers and the window with heart element from the kit.  I printed the paper out, and simply trimmed and moubted on black and white cardstock.  The window i opened in Photoshop, and layered behind it the text which is from a sentiment set by Sassy Studios; I then scaled my image for my card, and printed it out.
Then i printed out the beautiful Lucy digistamps from Simply Betty Stamps, and coloured with my promakers to coordinate with my papers.  I added some paper roses and heart pins to Lucy, and as a finishing touch i scattered some heart nailheads in the background.  I love how this card turned out, it's amazing what you can find available digitally, so much for us to play with:)

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day

Pixie Dust Release Day

Yes Release day is finally here, and I'm sure your going to love 'Gnome World' the awesome new collection Kathy has created for us all.
You might remember seeing this card last week, as i made it for this months Friends Having Fun Pop Culture Challenge, and the challenge is to create a card based on a song or character from GLEE.  As soon as i saw the 'No Place Like Gnome' image i fell in love with it, and new it was perfect for this challenge.  As you can see I also used 'Swinging on a Wish' from the Oh, Happy Day Collection.  I love how you can combine Pixie Dust images from previous collections with the new images to create a scene on your card; it's definately one of my favourite techniques.
My second card features the 'Gnome Sweet Gnome' image, doesn't this make the sweetest baby card.  My sentiment is from TlcCreations (one of Paulettes many freebies :))  I used some scraps of leftover Prima paper for this card, and added some paper roses to go with this pretty baby gnome.

Now you have to pop along to the Pixie Dust Blog to see the gorgeous gnome creations from the rest of the pixies.

Have a wonderful day

Pixie Dust Previews and Announcements!!!

It's Time for some previews from the new collection of images from the Pixie Dust Studio, you'll be able to purchase 'Gnome World' on August 3rd.  Today's card features 'Under the Weather' a rather sad little gnome, who is not feeling too great.  Isn't he cute?  He's coloured with promarkers, and i cut circles of white card which i coloured with the same promarkers to create my edging along the image.  The rest of the card is very simple, i added a little colour around the edge of the image, along with some faux stitching, and a hand written sentiment.

and my announcement....Is I get to stay on as a Pixie for a while longer; all i can say is a massive thank you to Kathy (the amazing owner and illustrator of Pixie Dust Studios), as i'm having such a wonderful time.
Here is the full list of Pixies, please take some time to visit their blogs and leave some love, as they are all wonderful creative little Pixies
