A Fun Scene It! Challenge with The Burtonesque Dolls

Today we would like you to recreate this awesome Burton's Alice in Wonderland Scene:

This is one of my favorite movies, not only is it Burton but Johnny is in it! What more could a girl want or need!? So, break out those tea stamps, top hats, and bring on the MADNESS!

I decided to use these gorgeous images from the Pixie Dust Studio, I love how Kathy captured the characters in these images, especially the Mad Hatter, that is just so Johnny!!

My patterned paper is meant to represent the table, not sure how well this has worked, but I love how these images go together.  My sentiment, a little cheesy to say the least, but I couldn't resist, everyone loves a cliche, lol!

This weeks challenge is just for fun, but i'm sure you want to play along and join the tea party.  Don't forget to link your creations to the Burtonesque Dolls Blog, so we can visit and check out your awesome-ness!!

A Sweet Gothic World Kids Release at Simply Betty Stamps

Today I would like to introduced the Sweet Gothic World Kids!  These were created by Artist Claudia Patron Perez exclusively for Simply Betty Stamps.   Claudia is a freelance artist, a Mexico native and wow is she absolutely amazing! You have to check out her Deviant Art Gallery here! She is wonderful you will see. Claudia has to my excitement agreed on continuing her commissions with me. She is open for other commissions as well, but ya can't have these cuties they are for Simply Betty Stamps ha! Good news is you can now purchase them at Simply Betty Stamps.com! Woot woot!

So here is the line up from left to right:

Judy, Sally, Wednesday, Tilly, Alex, and Scott
Can you say Cute?

I chose Sally for my card today, such a pretty face, and I love those balloons.  This really is a sweet range of images, with a lovely gothic twist, just what you expect from Simply Betty Stamps.  I kept my card fairly simple, as I wanted the main focus to be on Sally.  So we have just one backing paper with the main image centred on the page, I used a border punch to give the impression of this image coming from a notebook/sketchpad, and added some stamped tickets to give it that party feel.  My only embellishment here is a couple of strips of washi tape, which i think just softens the edges of the white paper without overpowering the image.

Lets Sketch with The Burtonesque Dolls

Your Challenge this week is to create a project using this Sketch

Here's the best part, you're free to go nuts with all the fun creative stuff since the design is done for you. How fun is that! You can use any image you want but don't forget to add your Burtonesque Style. So have fun.

So I decided to take my inspiration from a Tim Burton film that I haven't used before, so this weeks card is based on Batman Returns

I used a KennyK image for my Catwoman, using my lightbox to draw around her outline to create her catsuit.  I coulnd't resist using the 'Purrfect' sentiment, i used a mixture of Coredinations and DCWV All Dressed Up Cardstock.

Have fun, can't wait to see your take on this lovely sketch.

Toybox Release Day is Here!!!

It's Release Day for the "Toybox Collection"! It's available NOW in the Pixie Dust Studio!
I have one final card in the collection to share. It's Missy Claus, and she is just perfect for the holidays!

I feel like such a cheat with this card, it's got to be the simplest i've ever made, one piece of cardstock, free papers from craft magazine (this months Simply Cards & Papercraft, Papers by Kasiercraft), and Missy Claus image.  Now is that cheating or Clean & Simple, I'm not sure, but i do like the finished result.

Thanks for visiting with me, and I hope you enjoy the Toybox Collection as much as I have

SISC36~It’s a Sketchy Sketch, Plus a NEW RELEASE!

This week we have a Sketchy Sketch for you, and beautiful new Maddies for you to enjoy!   So let’s get down to business, shall we!
Here is the new Holiday Princess MaddiesThis has got to be one of the most beautiful sets of images i've seen in a while, Both Maddies are gorgeous, and so versatile, perfect for Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year, Weddings, or even to let someone know your praying for them.
And here is the sketch:
And here is my take on the sketch:
As you can see I turned the sketch on it's side.  I found this Christmas paper in my stash, it's by Dovecraft but's that all i can remember; I thought the row of trees would be perfect for the strip area of the sketch, and decided to mount that onto some pale blue cardstock, which i then punch a border onto with a loopy border punch.  The rest of my background is very simple, a coordinating patterned paper, a piece of blue cardstock embossed with snow, some washi tape, and a Christmas sentiment die cut.  I coloured Maddie with my promarkers, and then added some detail into her hair with a prismacolour pencil.
I hope you have chance to play along with this sketch challenge, as there will be 3 lucky winners who win the complete set of Holiday Princess images.
Take Care

What's in the Toybox Today?

Let me introduce Do-Little Dolly, she's just popped out of the Toybox to give us a little surprise, and to remind us about tomorrow's new releases. Apparently she has a couple more friends that we haven't met yet, so make sure you pop back tomorrow to meet her friends.  I'm sure they are going to be just as cute as Dolly.

I think she looks really pretty on my card, I had a play with a couple of new bits of stash on this card, some decorative sticky tape that i got all the way from China, and my dotty washi tape.  Both of these tapes are lovely to work with, altho you have to be a bit more careful with the decorative sticky tape, as it will stick to itself.  I love the fact that you can see through the washi tape, and you can peel it off and reposition it if you want, so lots of scope for play.

Hope your all having a great day, Don't forget there is a new challenge over at the Pixie Dust Studio Challenge Blog, I'm hoping to have time to play along soon, but make sure you check out the rest of the Pixies creations, because they really are Wild!!!

Want to look into the Pixie's Toybox??

The Pixie's will be opening their Toybox in a couple of days to share some of their favourite toys with you, so today it's time for a little sneaky peek.
Let me introduce you to Gamer-A-Saurus Rex isn't he adorable; I flipped him and printed him out facing left and right to create my two little gamers.  I found a Clipart image of a Flatscreen TV online, and printed that out for my background. I then used papers from the Tim Coffey Birthday paper pack to create the rest of my background, I cut the sentiments from a sheet of patterned paper, and then added some orange stardust pen to give it all a little sparkle.

Make sure you pop back tomorrow to have another little peek into the Toybox.
Have a Great Day

Movie Madness with The Burtonesque Dolls

Yes The Burtonesque Dolls are back, with new challenges and some new Dolls, make sure you check them out.

The challenge this week is Movie Madness!

The movie is Edward Scissor Hands... create your best Edward Scissor Hands Scene!

This week the Dolls are being sponsored by Tickled Pink Stamps for this fun return challenge. So sharpen your scissors and create a project that reflects this fun movie
So my project is a little different this week, not quite a card, more of a bookmark, or mini card.  I was inspired by the 'Hold Me' Scene, and thought these two images from Tickled Pink Stamps would work perfectly together, I used Lil' Birthday Luca for my Edward, and 50's Lilith for my Kim. I flipped the image of Lilith, and then cropped both images to print them out quite large. I then coloured my images with promarkers, before cutting them out, that was when i realised that they looked better without a background.  So i took an offcut of pale blue card, and folded it to create a bookmark/mini card to stick my images to.  I like how it turned out, hope you do too.

Have fun with this weeks challenge, and don't forget to upload your project to The Burtonesque Dolls post to be in win a chance of winning this weeks prize.

Thank you for visiting with me

Getting All Manly with the Pixies....

It's time for a new Pixie Dust Studio Challenge, and this week we are going all manly, it's time to give the Men and Boys in our lives a little attention, after all we can't make pretty pink cards for every occasion (much as I'd love to, tehe!!).The challenge is called

Create a card/project with a boy/man theme
I chose to use 'Buddies' for my challenge card, I love this image, and it's perfect for a boys/mans card.  I love how the little boy is holding on to his teddy, I'm sure a boys teddy is his Best Friend Forever, and that's why i decided on that sentiment. I coloured my image with prismacolour pencils and a blending pencil.

Thanks for stopping by, and don't forget to link your challenge cards HERE for your chance to win a Pixie Dust Image of your choice

Oh Alice CHAPTER 38: Tickets, Please!

`Tickets, please!' said the Guard, putting his head in at the window. In a moment everybody was holding out a ticket: they were about the same size as the people, and quite seemed to fill the carriage.

`Now then! Show your ticket, child!' the Guard went on, looking angrily at Alice. And a great many voices all said together (`like the chorus of a song,' thought Alice), `Don't keep him waiting, child! Why, his time is worth a thousand pounds a minute!

`I'm afraid I haven't got one,' Alice said in a frightened tone: `there wasn't a ticket-office where I came from." And again the chorus of voices went on. `There wasn't room for one where she came from. The land there is worth a thousand pounds an inch!'

-- Chapter 3, Through the Looking Glass

Do you have YOUR ticket ready for a ride on the Wonderland Express? Our twisted sister Lynne is the conductor this week and she says you can't travel with Oh, Alice! if you don't show us your ticket! You can make a ticket, use a ticket stamp, use a real ticket. Use one ticket or a whole row of tickets!

I've used Inkadinkado Ticket Stamps, and the wonderful Time for Tea digistamp from Tiddly Inks.  I coloured my images with promarkers, and then coloured Alice with Prismacolour pencils to give some extra depth and definition.  I thought a few little blue butterflies would be a nice finishing touch.

On a sad note, this is my last post as an Oh Alice Design Team Member, unfortunately my ticket has expired, so i've got to go home.  Hopefully one day i'll find a new ticket, as I do love Wonderland, and have had such a wonderful time playing along with all the challenges.

Take care all

Steampunk and Sketches with Simply Betty Challenges

Halloween is well and truly over for another year, so it's time for a new challenge at Simply Betty Challenges, and it's our first Sketch challenge

Here's my card based on the lovely sketch by Graphicat...
For my card i used the Gorgeous Gwendolyn from the brand new Steampunk Gang Collection available at Simply Betty Stamps.  Before printing my image out, I flipped her and cropped her to create this lovely focal point for my card; that's one of the things i love about digital stamps, the ability to flip and resize them, so much value for money.  I used papers from Basic Grey's Indian Summer Collection, and added some washi tape and coordinating star embellishments.  Gwendolyn is coloured with Prismacolour pencils.

I love this new range of images, so beautiful and fun to work with, can't wait to play with some more of them, there are 6 in the collection. You've got just under a week to play along with the challenge, make sure you upload your project Here to be in with a chance of winning this weeks prize.

Have a wonderful Bonfire Night, and stay safe

StampInsanity Challenge #34 - Punch Drunk Love!

This week we are showing our punches how much we love them…  It’s so easy to neglect certain staples of our crafting stash, and punches are one of those things that i go through phases with, well I had to use one for today's card, and here it is...
So I used a border punch on my card, punching a nice decorative border on two slightly different patterned papers.  I layered these up with some co ordinating ribbon to create a nice background for  Joszette to sit on.  I paper pieced her top to give her a slightly different look, and added a fabric flower with gem centre. I added a few more flowers and gems for a bit of interest, and left it at that.  I've not added a sentiment, because i like to keep a little stash of cards that are suitable for more than one occassion, I may use this one as a Birthday Card, or a Get Well Card, or just a simple Thinking of You.

Thanks for visiting with me

Pixie Dust Challenge #47 - Pretty Colours

It's Thursday so time to play with the Pixies again
The new theme is "  Pretty Colors "
Use this color pallette: Blue, Pink and Lime Green
I decided to use another of the new releases for this week's challenge card; Let me introduce you to Elfie, isn't he sweet!  He can be found in the Pixie Dust Studio with all of the other festive images in the Christmas Cuties Catergory.

This was a fun challenge, but combining it with a Christmas theme made it a little trickier for myself; Not sure how much i like the background i've created, but i love Elfie, and the Merry Christmas sentiment in beads worked brilliantly. So i'm happy.

Thank you for stopping by, and hope you have time to play along with us, don't forget to check out the rest of the Pixies very pretty creations.

More Festive Fun with the Pixies

Are you ready for some Festive Fun?  It's Release Day at the Pixie Dust Studio, so you can get your hands on this gorgeous new collection.  I've had so much fun colouring these images, I'm almost in the Festive Spirit (I said almost, lol!!)
Today's card features the heartwarming 'Melt my Heart' image; I love these two little snowpeeps.  I found this lovely snowflake patterned paper amongst my stash, and thought the colours were beautiful, and a little different to the norm.  I created a 4 x 6 card blank from some textured blue cardstock, and then cut a couple of hilly shapes out of the patterned paper.  I then coloured my snowpeeps to coordinate, and stuck it all down.  To finish it all off it's snowing pearls.  A fairly quick card to make, but that's the best sort of Christmas card i think, afterall got to make a few of them.

Now go and see what the rest of the Pixies have for you, and then go visit the Studio, You know you want to :)

Have a great day
