Getting Sketchy with Anita Be Stampin

As I was surfing the other day, I can across the Anita Be Stampin Challenge Blog, and their current sketch challenge. I liked the look of the sketch so decided to play along;  I downloaded Missy,a freebie from the Anita Be Stampin PCP Group.

For my card I used Coredination cardstock, and papers from the DCWV Teen Stack.  I stamped my sentiment from an Inkadinkado set, and using the rolled flower die from MFT I cut and rolled 3 flowers.  I punched out some leaves and added them all to my card.  Missy is coloured with Promarkers and a little white gel pen.

I really enjoyed working with this sketch, and Missy was fun to colour, you should check out the Anita Be Stampin Store, they have some cute images, including valentine inspired new releases.

Bling It On! with Simply Betty Challenges

Well ladies this week we have a very special challenge for you as it's for a very special girl. Back during our 12 days of Christmas we had a special prize, which was to be a Custom digi image drawn by our very own Betty. A special young crafter named Emmy won! Her digi is now ready, and the DT have all used her image this week for our Bling It On Challenge. So this week, since Emmy LOVES Glitter (and lets be honest, who doesn't?? ) we're challenging you to

Bling It On!

Isn't Emmy's fairy the cutest?  You could be one of the very few people to own this lovely image if you win this weeks challenge.

For my card I really embraced the 'Bling it On' theme, firstly I started off with a lime green card base, which I added some striped Doodlebug paper to.  I then added some sequin & fabric borders to a couple of the stripes, before adding Emmy's fairy, which I'd coloured with promarkers and some sakura stardust pens.  I then added some blingy butterfly stickers, pink felt flowers, and some pink pearls to finish it all off.

I do hope Emmy likes it, such a fun challenge and great image.  Do make sure you check out Emmy's blog, shes one talented young crafter.

Don't forget to add you project to the Simply Betty Challenges Blog to be in with a chance of winning this very limited edition digi.

Announcing the Desert Islands Crafters....

I just want to say a massive thank you to everyone that applied to join the Design Team, and for all the encouraging messages I've received.  I'm so glad you like the idea of this challenge blog, and I'm really excited to get started.

It's time to make the important announcement of who the Desert Islands Crafters are, please give some to love to this wonderful group of ladies;

Remember you can join us as a Desert Islands Crafters, simply by taking part and winning a challenge.

Our first challenge will be announced on the 1st February, until then, check out the DT's blogs, they have some awesome creations to share with you.

Bye for now

Queen of Glitter

Today I'd like to share with you this bookmark i created using the 'Queen of Glitter' stamp by Suzi Blu & Unity, available at Make The Day Special. First I have to say how impressed I was with the size of this stamp, at roughly 5 1/2 inches by 2 inches it's a perfect size for bookmarks or DL cards.

I stamped the Queen onto watercolour paper using Vibrant Violet Stazon Ink.  I used Sakura Stardust Pens with a Tombow Blender pen to colour the background.  The rest of the image is coloured with a mix of Sakura Pens, some matte some glitter, as I wanted to get some contrast on her outfit.  I coloured her face and hands with a Promarker (very carefully so as not to smudge the Stazon).  I then trimmed my image and to finish the edges off neatly, I used some pink washi tape which i folded over the bookmark edge, and then trimmed the corners.

I hope you like her, she definately sparkles

Some Happy News:)...

I can finally let you all in on a little secret i've been keeping.
I'm a Design Team Member at The Stamping Boutique, is that Awesome or What!!

Have you seen there images, such a wonderful collection of cute, and quirky images, perfect for any occasion, and super fun to colour.

Here's my first creation
It's a bookmark I made for my Mum, using the adorable Audrey with Cupcake.
I can't wait to create more projects with these images.
Thanks for stopping by, and come back again soon :)

The Burtonesque Dolls go Arty with Tim

This week's challenge is to take inspiration from 'The Art of Tim Burton', here are some pictures to get your inspiration going...

You can find more inspiration and information about the book ' The Art of Tim Burton' at the Official Tim Burton Website.

Here's my interpretation of Tim's wonderful Art Work...

I used the adorable, Mae as Alice from Some Odd Girl, I have to say I love her pose.  I was inspired by Tim's use of Red and Black, along with swirls and checkerboards.  I printed out a couple of patterned papers from Tangie Baxter's  "Wonderland" Digital Scrapbooking Kit.  I coloured Mae with my promarkers, and distressed the edges of the paper she's on, before stapling it to my card.  I added a dymo sticker sentiment, along with some flourish stickers and black gems.

I hope you have a chance to check out the rest of the Dolls creations, along with the awesome Art of Tim Burton.
Thanks for visiting with me

Edit:  I'm entering this card into the Some Odd Girl : Let's Get Embossed Challenge, the embossing?  The Dymo embosses the letters onto the tape, so that's my embossing. Hope that qualifies :)

Getting Sketchy with Simply Betty Challenges

Ok so THIS week we have a Sketch.... by Cheri, and it's another corker, that girl definately knows how to create sketches. Now, here it is.

Here is my take on it.
I used the super sweet Tilly from the Sweet Gothic World Kids Collection.  I used paper from my stash (sorry don't know the make) along with washi tape, and paper flowers.  Tilly is coloured with Promarkers.

Thanks for stopping by, and don't forget to link your creation to the Simply Betty Challenge Blog to be in with a chance of winning this weeks prize.

An ODD Colour Challenge

Some Odd Girl are celebrating their first birthday this week with a series of challenges, including a Colour Challenge, featuring their signature colours;

A rather unusual colour combo for me, so i thought i'd give the challenge a shot.
For my card i chose the adorable 'Kiss A Prince Tia' isn't she sweet. I have to say I really do like Some Odd Girl images, very cute but quirky too, just the sort of thing I love, the fact they are digis is a bonus.

So looking through my stash I came across this patterned paper, it came in one of those mixes of recycled handmade papers.  So instead of using grey on my card i used silver, not too much of a leap I hope.

I used a pale yellow card blank for my base, and embossed it with a 'twinkle' embossing folder.  I then added some Sakura Stardust Glitter pen to some of the stars to make them twinkle.

For my layout i decided to use this weeks Splitcoaststampers Sketch. I layered my patterened papers onto to lime cardstock.  I layered Tia on yellow cardstock first then lime.

Tia is coloured with my Promarkers and a little white gel pen.  I added a pricked outline to my three pieces of cardstock before adhering to my card blank.  To finish it all off I added some padded silver star embellishments.

Thanks for visiting with my, and don't forget to check out Some Odd Girl, as they've an amazing anniversary sale on, aswell as some great challenges to enter.

Make A Wish with Harper

I decided to have a little play today, and thought i'd have a go at the following Colour Challenge
I decided to use one of the new images from By LORi Designs, as soon as I saw Harper I knew I had to get her, isn't she cute, and don't you just love her little dolly.
I had a little rummage through my stash and came across a paper pad by My Mind's Eye called 'Quite Contrary' which goes very nicely with this colour combo. The paper is a little more aqua than blue, but I hope it's close enough for the challenge.

I used the 'Out the Box' technique with my die, so that i could use a heart die with this image, without having to chop any limbs off, lol!!  I die cut a larger heart with decorative border, and used a heart border punch on one of my backgroud papers to create a nice edge.

The two background papers i used on my card are quite similar, so you could not see the heart border very easily, i rectified this by adding a strip of washi tape just behind the punched border; I like how it creates pretty pink hearts.

I used a MFT Rolled Flower die to create my flower, i added a green pearl to it's centre, and punched some leaves out to layer underneath it.

The sentiment came from the same pad as the rest of the patterned papers, i cut it out, and layered onto a scrap of the pink paper.

Harper is coloured with Promarkers, with some Sakura Stardust Glitter Pen on her skirt and necklace, just to add that little twinkle.

A New Challenge for The Burtonesque Dolls

It's time for the first Burtonesque Dolls Challenge of the Year, we decided to have an extended holiday, as some of the Dolls are under the weather.  We decided to make this first challenge of the year a nice and simple one;

Create a card/project with a New Home or New Baby theme, but don't forget to add that Burtonesque Twist.

I decided to make a New Home card featuring Devina from the Spooky Hallow Collection of Digital Stamps available at Simply Betty Stamps, along with the Home Sweet Home Digital Stamp from Tiddly Inks.   For my background I printed two of the patterned papers in Tangie Baxter's Hallowe'en in OZ Digital Scrapbooking Kit.

I took a piece of A4 Black Gloss Cardstock and folded it to create my card base, then I added some strips of lime green washi tape, along with the patterned papers I'd printed.  Then i adhered my images which are both coloured with Promarkers, along with a computer generated sentiment.  To finish it all off I added a few staples.

Love You Loads

So What do you do when you can't sleep and your waiting for your painkillers to kick in?  Have some fun creating a card for some challenges that's what; well it's what i've been doing for the last couple of hours.

I've had this KennyK image 'Star' for a while now, and not had a chance to colour her up, so I thought this card would be the perfect opportunity for her to shine.  Whilst surfing around blogland this week I'd come across a few challenges that sounded good, so I thought i'd have a go and try creating one card for multiple challenges.  Usually i only have one reason, or challenge that I make a card for, so I decided to really stretch myself and combine three challenges in one card.

This card is for Kenny K's Krafty Girlz Challenge #26 - Love You, The Pink Elephant TPE#91 Colour Challenge of Pink, Orange and Aqua, and Some Odd Girl Challenge - Lets get Embossed.

I used some papers from DCWV Floral Stack, Orange Vellum, and a Aqua Card Blank.  To this I added some striped deco tape, pink gems, and my 'Star' image (coloured with Promarkers, Orange Stardust Pen, White Gel Pen)  To finish it all off I stamped the 'Love you Loads' sentiment in Black Memento Ink, and then went over it with Orange Stardust Pen.

I'm really pleased with how this turned out, I've managed to use up some old stash, play with an image i'd neglected, and complete 3 Challenges.  The layout for the card evolved as I was making it, I think it works quite well.

A Cut Above with Lawn Fawn.

Today I'd like to share with you a quick card I made using the 'Just My Type' set of stamps by Lawn Fawn which are available at Make The Day Special along with more sets from this company.

Lawn Fawn produce high quality photopolymer clear stamps which feature cute images and witty sentiments, they stamp beautifully.

For my card i took a white card blank, and stamped my sentiment and the scissors using memento ink, i also stamped the pin tacks onto a scrap of card.  I wanted to create the impression of the scissors cutting the background, so decided to use strips of washi tape to add pattern to the card.  I coloured the scissors and pin tacks to coordinate with the pink dots on the washi tape, and then cut the pin tacks out and adhered with glue dots.

A quick card, perfect for those occassions when you just want to let someone know your thinking about them, or a thank you card for those Christmas Gifts.

Sharing the Love with Instyle Stamps

Today I'd like to share with your my first card as a Chickie for Instyle Stamps.  As soon as I saw this image, I fell in love with her, she's just so cute, she's called Mom Love and is available as a digital stamp at the Instyle Stamps Store.

I've had the papers for a few weeks, they came with a Craft Magazine, and I've been saving them for the perfect occasion. I layered the first paper onto a white card blank, i then took a smaller piece of the second paper (features the same design, but with the addition of flocked white polka dots) and using Heart Punches created a nice edge around the piece.  I then layered this piece onto some white card stock, as this helps highlight the punched border.

I then took a scrap of iridescent sequin waste and wove a piece of turquoise ribbon through it, before wrapping it around my card panel, and tying in a bow.  I took a selection of paper roses and flowers from my stash and attached them to my card panel.  The card panel was then adhered to the card base.  To finish my card I coloured my image with promarkers and a little white gel pen, and cut out with a craft knife, before layering it in the centre of the background, tucking the left foot behind the paper roses.

I'm entering this card into this weeks Oh, Alice! Challenge as the colour scheme works very nicely for the challenge.

Thank you for visiting with me, Have a Great Day

Art Journal Every Day - Week 1

How have you been doing with your 10min Art Journaling Every Day?  Mine went quite well.  I'm pleased to say i found a nice hardback A4 Sketchbook amongst my stash, which I decided was perfect for this project.  So my plan is aswell as doing 10 minutes every day, I want to work on One page a week.  I've no definate ideas for each week, basically i'm just doodling, colouring in, and having some fun.

I wonder what next weeks page will look like. Don't forget to click on the Art Journal Every Day Logo on my sidebar to go to the main blog, to see all the details, and to check out what everyone else is upto.

Have a great week

Sending Some Odd Hugs & Kisses!!!

So I was browsing through my Blog reader earlier and discovered the January Digi Day Challenge over at Some Odd Girl blog.  I decided to play along, as I have a couple of there freebie images (which are awesome), and I love this months challenge, a Valentine or Love Card with no Pink or Red.

For my card I used Mae with Bouquet, I printed her out twice, cut her whole body out once, and then die cut her head and upper body with a circle die.  I love the Spotlight Technique for highlighting what you want to be the focal point of your card, and decided it would work very nicely with this image.

I then picked out a patterned paper from my stash, this is a Making Memories one from an 8x8 paper pack, the edges of which where already cut in a big scalloped circle.  I trimmed a piece of this paper, and stuck it to a light turquoise/green card blank.  Then using some kraft card, I created a fence for the background, and my sentiment.

I then coloured Mae to compliment the papers I had chosen, stuck it all together, and added a white felt cloud, and some white shaped eyelets and turquoise brads.

I love how this turned out, and Love the fact that everything for it was already in my stash.  I want to try and use my stash more this year, rather than buying new goodies.

Hope you like it,
Thanks for visiting

Stamp Out Stamp Thieves!!!

Many of you may know there has been some problems with people copying others images and selling them as their own designs; one of the victims of this was Maurie J. Manning (a.k.a MO) of Mo's Digital Pencil , Mo managed to track down the thief but she also noticed that their were several other stamp companies that were also being hijacked.

Mo has created a site and begun a campaign to STAMP OUT STAMP THIEVES....ART THIEVES!!

Please visit this site to see what you can do to help Stamp Out Stamp Thieves, it's important we all do our best to help, otherwise the digital stamp may not be around for much longer!!!

Thanks for your time

Art Journal Every Day!!!!

I was just reading through my blog reader and came across this post by Alex and thought What a brilliant idea. So I've missed a couple of days, whatever, no problem; I'll just start tomorrow.

10 minutes every day to journal something, don't need to finish anything specific in one day, just work at it for 10 minutes.  Sounds doable to me.

So my plan for tomorrow - Find a Journal/Sketchbook (wont' be difficult, I have loads), and start page 1, i'm quite excited at the prospect.

If you fancy joining in, then visit this site, for full details and some inspiration.

Well it's just gone midnight, so time for some sleep.

New Year, New Adventures, New Me!!!

Happy New Year to All!!
I have some news to share today... A while back out of the blue I got an email from the sweet Taylor Usry  asking me to apply for InStyle Stamps! After looking through the Instyle Stamps Store, and seeing loads of images i'd love to work with, I sent a reply saying I would LOVE to be on the team!
I am now a CHICKIE for InStyle Stamps!!!!!!

InStyle Stamps
I will be joining a team of SUPER talented ladies!
Make sure you keep your eyes peeled here and the InStyle Stamps Blog! to see what wonderful treats we have to share with you all in this New Year

So that's a new adventure for me, but with the starting of a new adventure I decided it was time to end a couple of the journey's i'd been on in 2010, so I will no longer be on the Design Teams of StampInsanity or The Pixie Dust Studio.  I've had a wonderful time on both teams, and have loved working with gorgeous images, and beautiful talented people. I'm lucky to say I made quite a few friends through these two wonderful groups, and am forever grateful to them for all the support they have given me over the past few months.

In an ideal world I would not have given up any of my Design Teams, but I have to acknowledge the fact that my health isn't brilliant, and I don't have enough energy to do everything that I would like to. I am hoping that by cutting down my Design Team responsibilities a little I can make some more time for me, and to craft for fun.  I've gathered so many beautiful images and stamps over the last year, i just need to give them a little love.
My motto for 2011 is to BELIEVE!, in myself and others, and to make the most of the opportunities I have been given.
Thank you for visiting with me, and I hope you will join me on the adventure that 2011 is sure to be.
Take Care
