Feeling Shabby???

Have you checked out  The Shabby Tea Room? Well they are a cute little challenge blog that The Stamping Boutique happen to be sponsoring this week!  Our challenge this week was " Classic Elegance"-use this photo for inspiration along with the colors RED, WHITE or CREAM, and BLACK!

As soon as I saw the inspiration picture I knew I wanted to create a scene with multiple images,  I used 4 images-Farm Window, Pantry Shelf, Farm Pantry, and Spring Cleaning Audrey.   I love using multiple images to create scenes on my cards, and digital images are really the best for that, it's so easy to resize them, you can create wonderful scenes and get a sense of perspective just by printing your images in slightly different sizes, and arranging them to give the impression of space.

I'm quite pleased with how my card turned out, but to be honest I would change a couple of bits if I was making it again.  I think the Red Gingham patterned paper is a little too overpowering for the wallpaper, so I'd go for a plainer background.  I would also print the Farm Pantry bigger, and have it more in the foreground of the card.

I can't wait to see how other people interpret the inspiration picture, as it has so many wonderful details that you could pick out and use.  I think I'll be keeping this picture for future reference.  That is one of the things I like to do to try and keep my ideas flowing, any pictures I find online, or see on challenge blogs that inspire me, I save to a folder on my pc, and when I need some inspiration I know where to look.

Getting a little Quirky with The Stamping Boutique

I consider myself to be very lucky, as I have the honour of working with some wonderful people and images, one of the wonderful people I work for is Tracey Malnofski, the brains and talent behind The Stamping Boutique.  Tracey not only creates some of the most delightful images to work with, but she is also very generous, and loves to sponsor challenge blogs to give everyone the opportunity to win some of her images.

Today The Stamping Boutique is sponsoring Quirky Craft Challenge,  when i saw the theme of this weeks challenge I had to play along. The Challenge is Alice in Wonderland, create a craft project featuring something found in the Alice in Wonderland story. For my card I used Audrey Sitting and Audrey's Chair, I also used the teapot from the Pantry Shelf image.

I kept the rest of my card very simple, I used a digital paper for my floor, and embossed the wall with a heart embossing folder.  I then trimmed this paper and adhered to a red card blank.  I coloured my images with Promarkers before cutting them out; I adhered the chair flat on the background and used foam pads to add Alice to the chair.  What more could you need for an Alice in Wonderland Card? Maybe a Rabbit or Mad Hatter or even a power crazy Queen, but I decided to leave the card as is; I can't wait to see what other people create for this challenge, that's one of my favourite things about online challenges, getting to see how differently we all interpret the same theme.

Hope you'll have time to play along with Quirky Craft Challenge, and make sure you check out The Stamping Boutique, because it is filled to the rafters with some of the best digital stamps available.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend

You Are The Star In My Life!!!

Today I want to share with you this card I made for The TownScrapper using one of their Exclusive Victoria Case Images, isn't she adorable. Want to get your hands on this image then contact Phebe and she'll be happy to help you.

For my card I used a lovely star patterned paper from the DCWV Teen Stack, along with some orange vellum, and an orange cardblank.  I used a spellbinders die to cut my sentiment, and added some lilac ribbon to it.  I coloured my image in Promarkers(hair & body) and Prismacolour Pencils(outfit).  To finish my card I added some star eyelets from my stash.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend

Make Everyday The Best

That's the sentiment I chose to use on today's card, and what a wonderful sentiment it is.  The image and sentiment both come from the 'So this is Love' Ippity set. Want to get your hands on some Ippity?  Then visit Emily's Ippity Inspiration Blog, and check out the awesome selection she had available for you.

I used shades of sunrise marvy blending blox to stamp my image and sentiment, and teamed them with some orange vellum, pink patterened washi tape, and a few pink gems.

I'm really pleased how this card turned out, so much white space in it, and so clean and simple.  I can hardly believe I made it, Clean and Simple just isn't the typical Suzi we all know, lol!!

Thanks for visiting with me
Have a wonderful day all

Don't be Square! Have a Ball!!

Today I had some free time, so decided to play along with the current Pixie Dust Studio Challenge; Which is Don't be Square, make a card or project that's not square.  So I decided to make a Stair Step Card featuring one of the newest images from the Pixie Dust Studio.  I used 'Belle of the Ball' from the Have a Ball Collection, along with 'Royal Ride' from the Princess Parade Collection.

I used a piece of silver cardstock from my stash to create my Stair Step Card base, onto this I added some strips of pink polka dot paper, which I'd punched with a heart border punch.  I printed my images out and coloured them with a mixture of Promarkers and Prismacolour pencils.  To finish my card off I added a ticket sentiment and some silver grey organza ribbon.

I love how this card turned out to be so pale and pastel, something a little different for me.  I think Belle of the Ball has to be one of my favourite Pixie Dust Studio images, she is just so pretty, I'm sure i'll be using her for a few girly birthday cards.

Back in Black...and Red with the BDolls

Time for another fun challenge with the Burtonesque Dolls, and this weeks is really nice and simple,It's a Colour Challenge, the colours are
RedWhite and Black
A nice classic colour combination which is so very 'Burtonesque'.

You can make a card/project for any occasion with any theme, just as long as you stick to the colour combination.  You may use neutrals and skintones along with the colours chosen, but try and limit it to that:)

My first card today features Jasper from Spesch Designer Stamps, I thought he looked rather 'Burtonesque' and reminds me of Johnny Depp (yummy!!).  I decided to have a play with how I coloured him, and used a Letraset fineliner to colour his hair and add some shadows to the image, i was going for a cross-hatched hand drawn look, I think it kinda works.  To brighten him up a little, I added some red pencil over some of the pen work.  I used papers from my stash, adding some black gems and faux stitching.

My second card, you may have already seen, as I made it for the current Desert Islands Crafters Challenge, but I wanted to share it with you again today, not only because I love it, but because this gorgeous image, and the rest of the Steampunk Romance Images will be available to purchase at Simply Betty Tonight at 6pm PST.

Thanks for stopping by, and keep an eye out for a rather Romantic Blog Hop later today!!!
Bye for now

Happy 60th Dad

Today I'd like to share with you the card I made for my Dad's 60th Birthday.  Hard to believe he's 60, makes me realise i'm not a kid anymore, altho I still feel like one on the inside; I'm sure he doesn't feel his age; So I decided to make him a pretty funky birthday card.  Dad loves music, so I thought these wonderful images from KennyK would make the perfect card for him.

I kept the card very simple, I used some textured blue cardstock for my card base, to which i added some strips of washi tape.  I then printed out the numbers 6 & 0 from a digital scrapbooking alphabet, cut them out, and added some distressing ink to the edges.  Star and Vicki Lee Vicious are coloured with promarkers, with a little white gel pen, and sakura stardust pen for highlights.

I'm glad to say Dad loved his card, as well as his birthday present - A Peter Green CD :)
Hope your all having a lovely day
Bye for now

Edit:  I just found out this card fits with the current Moxie Fab World Challenge: Get Daring with Decorative Tape.  Not sure how daring my washi tape background is, but I like the effect it created.

Recycle, Don't Toss It, Use It with Simply Betty Challenges

This week we are challenging you to RECYCLE. Come on how easy is that..

Don't toss it, Use it.

You can use scrap leftover paper, packing from paper, embellishments, bits and pieces of leftover embellishments or anything craft or non craft related.

It's up to you, just have fun with it and use things in a way you would never even think
to use on your creations.
I do like to recycle packaging as much as I can, so I love the concept of this weeks challenge.  The recycled elements on my card are the black cardstock with stars on (packaging from a pack of gems) and my sequin waste(one of my favourites).  I used a stencil to draw my star, and then cut it out after adding an outline of white gel pen.  I also punched some circles from the cardstock.

I used a card blank from my stash, added the sequin waste and some washi tape. I then adhered my Star to the card along with my image.  I chose to use Tootsie for this card, isn't she cute!! I added the cardstock circles to the bottom of my card, and to finish it all off added some black and silver circle nailheads.

I hope you have fun with the challenge, I can't wait to see what wonderful recycled elements you come up with.  Don't forget to link you creation to the Simply Betty Challenge Blog to be in with a chance of winning this weeks prize.

Bye for now

How about a Sweet Treat?

Today I'd like to share with you another card I've made using QKR Stampede's 'Sweet Treats' image.  I really like this image, but i wasn't happy with the way I coloured it last time I used it, so I decided to try something different this time.

I created a patchwork effect background using pieces of paper and card, along with some washi tape.  I then stamped the image using Stazon Ink directly onto this background.  I wanted the image to have a slightly transparent look, so coloured it with pastel pencils, which gave me a nice soft look.

To finish my card I added a border of glitter stickers, a stamped sentiment and some heart gems.

Thanks for visiting with me today
Have a great day

Spring is in the Air?

Not sure if Spring is in the Air yet, it's still rather cold and wet here, but I'm definately ready for spring.  So when i saw this beautiful 'Flower Cart' image from The Stamping Boutique I couldn't resist printing it out and colouring it.

I returned to my all time favourite colouring medium and got out my prismacolour coloured pencils and some blending spirits. The card itself is very simple, I coloured my image and stuck it to a lilac card blank, then added some hot-fix nailheads to the umbrella and wheels on the image, before creating a nailhead frame.  The frame did take a little time, as I lined the nailheads up with a pair of tweezers then set with a hot-fixing wand.  To finish it all off I added some green stardust glitter pen to the image.

Like I said a simple card, but I do like how it turned out, and it makes Spring feel that little bit closer.  Talking of Spring...
Don't forget to join us for our Spring Fever Blog Hop, it's going to be fun.
Hope your having a nice day, Bye for Now

Good Morning Blogland, I hope you had time to play along with the first Desert Island Crafters Challenge.  As it's already time for Challenge #2. We are using Juanita's Desert Island Itinerary, but in future challenges we will use the Desert Island Itinerary of a previous challenge winner.

The challenge is quite simple, all you have to do is make a card/project using 3 or more items from my itinerary.
Juanita's Desert Island Itinerary

1. Monochromatic
2. Movie or Book inspired
3. Buttons
4. The word “ FRIEND(S)” in your sentiment
5. Border Punch
6. Only one pattern paper
7. The colour Red
8. No flowers
9. Swirls
10. Sparkle

I love the list of items Juanita came up with for us to use, and on my card I used, Monochromatic, Movie or Book inspired, Only one pattern paper, The colour Red, and Sparkle.

For my card I used one of the brand new Valentine Steampunk images from Simply Betty Stamps, these will be released soon (date to be confirmed). My inspiration came from the film 'La Vie en Rose' which was on TV late the other night, and I happened across it by chance, and I'm so glad I did, such an excellent film, wonderful acting, and such a tragic story. If you've not seen it I highly recommend it.

You have until Midnight 28th Feb to play along with this challenge, as the new one will be posted on the 1st March.  Have fun, and don't forget to link your creation to the Desert Island Crafters Challenge Blog.

You're Hoot-i-ful!!!

Today I have a special card to share with you, it's my first card as Guest Design Team Member for The TownScrapper ;  I was overjoyed and very honoured when Phebe of The TownScrapper asked me to be a Guest DT for her, I was even more delighted when i saw the gorgeous Victoria Case images I get to work with. Not only are these images gorgeous, but they are exclusive to The TownScrapper.

The TownScrapper is a 'brick's and mortar' papercrafting store situated in Petrolia, Ontario in Canada.  They ship worldwide and you can find full contact details for them HERE.

For my card i decided to try something a little different and made a 'twisted' easel card.  I couldn't resist using this gorgeous Victoria Case image of a very romantic owl couple.  For my background I used papers from Bo Bunny's Crush Collection, and created a quilted heart background using a quilters pattern i found Here.  I coloured my Owls with Promarkers before cutting out and adding to my background using foam pads to give some height.  I used a set of border/corner punches to create my heart border, and backing piece for my sentiment.  I used a border punch on the base of my card, and then wove some ribbon through it to give a nice romantic feel.  To finish the whole thing I scattered some red and white pearl hearts around my background.

I love how this turned out, and fingers crossed my mum will love it, as it's the card I made for my Dad to give her on Valentines Day.

Thanks for visiting with me today,
Have a great weekend

You Are Loved

Today I'd like to share with you a card featuring one of my favourite stamps, You Are Loved by Suzi Bluavailable at Make The Day Special.  Such a wonderfully quirky image, and such fun to colour. I used Promarkers to colour this image, and a pointillism technique for my background, starting with my darkest colour I added dots around the image randomly, then using a mid range colour add more dots spreading outwards, finally I used my palest colour to add some dots, I left more space the further out from the image I went to try and create some depth.  I like the finished effect, but you could soften it by going over the whole background with a blender pen.
That's it from me for today
Have a great day all

Happy Birthday Rio :)

Rio is Betty's (from Simply Betty Stamps) daughter.
This is a special digi for Rio's 13th Birthday.
Rio is the wonderful daughter of our very own Betty of Simply Betty Stamps.
She is one awesome young lady who has acted so selflessly
and has given of her time and birthday money
to help the children of St. Jude's Hospital.
In return for her heartfelt gift to St. Jude's, she is receiving a
slew of cards made with her awesome "secret" image,
and well wishes for her big day from people all over the world who think
she deserves some special treatment too!

Have a Wonderful 13th Birthday Rio, you deserve it :)

Big Adventures with The Burtonesque Dolls

Time for another challenge, and this week we are taking inspiration from a rather neglected Tim Burton Film
The Challenge is to make a card/project based on the 'Big Adventure' theme and/or featuring Pee Wee Herman.

For my card I decided to focus on the 'Big Adventure' part of the theme, and remembered this Pixie Dust Studio image which is perfect for this challenge, it's called 'WINK Pretends' and really does capture the feel of an adventure.

I kept my background very simple using some corrugated card to create and sky and land, and an alpine trees border punch for my trees.  I used a designer gromlet to represent a guiding star for Wink.  I then found this wonderful quote " If adventure does not wait on the doorstep, climb out through the window" on  I printed the quote, and coloured it with Promarkers to coordinate with Wink, and then added some faux stitching .  To finish my card off I added a few staples and some more faux stitching.

I love how this has turned out, and can't wait to see how others intepret the theme.

Falling in Love with Digis with The Stamping Boutique

I made this card for Challenge #2 at The Stamping Boutique 'Falling in Love with Digis' Digi Day Event over at Paper Craft Planet.

So the challenge was to make a Non Traditional Valentines, with No Pink or Red! I decided to avoid hearts, so chose the beautiful 'Love Birds' image to use on my card. I used some pale blue patterned paper from the DCWV Spring Stack for my background, and cut a large paper doily in half and adhered that to my card, to give a softer romantic look to the card.  My sentiment came from a sheet of self adhesive foiled vellum sentiments, I just trimmed it down to size and added it to the patterned paper.  I then added my Love Birds image, which is coloured in Letraset Promarkers.

I decided against adding any further embellishments to this card, mainly as I could not think of anything that would really enhance it.  I think this would make the perfect valentine for the man in your life,  romantic but not too feminine.

There is still time to play along with this and the other Digi Day Challenges over at The Stamping Boutiques Group, just create a card or project using an image from The Stamping Boutique and upload it to the challenge discussion before 12pm EST on Wednesday 9th February.

Have fun, and Thanks for visiting with me

Edit:  I've just been told by a good friend that this card fits with a couple of current challenges out there.  So I'm entering it into the current Fussy and Fancy Challenge, as well as StampInsanity's Non Traditional Valentines Challenge.

Fancy a Summer Treat with Make The Day Special

Wouldn't it be nice to have a Day at the Seaside, with the Sun shining, and lots of Ice-cream!  Guess we'll have to wait a few months for that, but that's what the image on today's card makes me think of.   This cute image is called 'Summer Treat' by QKR Stampede available in the shop Here.  I stamped the image onto watercolour paper and then coloured with Aquamarkers.  I used a scrap of My Mind's Eye paper for my background, and added a tissue paper circle, some strips of washi tape along with some gems for a little sparkle.

I have to admit I really like this image, but I'm not a fan of Aquamarkers, I've used them a couple of times now and just can't get on with them.  I think i'm going to go back to using my Cara d' Arche Water soluable Crayons.
Bye for now

Challenge #1 at Desert Islands Crafters Challenge Blog

For our very first Desert Islands Crafters Challenge we are using My Desert Island Itinerary, but in future challenges we will use the Desert Island Itinerary of a previous challenge winner.

The challenge is quite simple, all you have to do is make a card/project using 3 or more items from my itinerary.

My Desert Island Itinerary
1)Stitching & Piercing
2)Pearls & Gems
4)Die Cuts
5)Sparkle - Glitter etc
6) Ribbon & Flowers
7) A Hand Coloured Image - rubber or digi stamp, coloured with your fave medium
8)Theme - Mystical & Fantasy Creatures
9) Colour Scheme - Bright Pink & Black
10) Colour Scheme - Rainbow Colours

Here's my card..
I managed to use 9 out of the 10 items on my Itinerary, I could not manage to get Bright Pink and Black in there without messing up the card.

I used an 8 x 8 Card blank which was already embossed with various sizes of dots.  I added some pastel rainbow pearlescent papers along with a beautiful image from The Stamping Boutique which is called An Uncommon Friendship and comes from there Enchantment Line of images. I coloured my image with Letraset Promarkers and a little Sakura Stardust pen.

I diecut my image and pearlescent papers.  I used a corner punch on the square of paper before layering that onto my card blank.  I then punched holes around the paper square and added my ribbon stitching.  I then added my image mounted on foam pads to give a little dimension.

To finish the card off I add pearls in various sizes and pastel colours.

I hope you find time to play along with us, and dont' forget to link your creation to the Desert Islands Crafters Blog, you never know you could be the next winner, and get to share your Itinerary with us all to follow.

Thanks for visiting with me
