Love Conquers All with some Classic Style...

Love definitely does conquer all, and that is what my card is all about today.  It features one of the brand new Steampunk Classic Collection 2 images from SimplyBStamps.net; it's called The Performers by Abigail Larson, and it's simply beautiful.  As soon as i saw it I thought Beauty and the Beast and knew i had to make a card with it.

It's a very detailed image, so i wanted to show the stages i went through colouring it, to let you see that it's not quite as scary as it first might look.

As you can see, the first step for me was to colour the background in, this helps get rid of some white paper, and also makes it easier to focus on the main image.  I then colour blocked the rest of the image, simply colouring with a pale version of the colours i wanted to use.   The next stage i work at adding in some shading, and more vibrant colours, I then worked in some shadows to add definition to my image.  The last stage was to add some texture, so i used a couple of background stamps and walnut distress ink, to grunge the whole thing up a little, I then added distress embossing powder.  Once i'd heated this, i rubbed off some areas to show more of the image, and distressed the edges with a distressing tool.

Here is my finished card...
I added some yellow card and a sentiment to contrast the image a little, and some magic mesh in the background gives some texture.  I kept my embellishments minimal, simply adding a few crystal to echo the lights in the image, and some ribbon and buttons.

I love how this turned out, as i had no idea where the project was going, i simply had fun colouring this awesome image, and playing around.  I hope you like it as much as I do.

Hop over to the Simply Challenged Challenges Blog to see the rest of this beautiful collection of images, and then head straight over to SimplyBStamps.net where you can get these images in digi for at the sale price of $3.50.  Be quick cos the digi sale ends soon.

Bye for now

The Great Outdoors with SCC

Today we have a special limited release at Simply B Stamps, and we thought this would be the perfect showcase for the Simply Challenged Challenges DT, who were announced yesterday.

We have for you a brand new Jude & the Rockers Collection; Jude & the Rockers Outdoors.  You are going to love this collection of fun images, which are perfect for all those camping vacation photos.

My first card for today features 3 of the new images, Miss Ranger Lilly, Snug as a Bug Oscar and Who's Out There Ali. I thought it would be fun to create a scene with these adorable characters, and a stair step card seemed to be the perfect way to show them all off.  To make sure my card would stand up I created a 5 x 7 card blank to which I adhered my stair step blank.  I then added Ali to the card blank, before decorating my steps with some green web ribbon from May Arts, and adding Lilly and Oscar to the two steps.  I used the mini ticket stamp and die from Whimsy Stamps to create my mini tickets, to which i added my hand written sentiment.  To finish it all off, I added some clear gems in various sizes to create a few constellations of stars.

Here's a slightly different view of the card...

My second card is much more Clean and Simple..
It features the adorable Squeekin' Jude who is all ready to go off exploring the great outdoors.  I stamped the compass, set square and calipers images onto some kraft paper using walnut distress ink.  I ran a scrap of green paper through an embossing folder then added some distress ink to highlight the embossing.  Jude is coloured with Letraset Promarkers and Flexmarkers, I added a little distress ink to the edges of this image before adhering it to my card.  For a finishing touch i added some lime green staples.

That's all from me for today, but make sure you come back tomorrow, as we have another release at SimplyBStamps.net and we are going over to the Dark side....

Enjoy your weekend
Hugs

A couple more Rio's and a Touch of Poe!!

Today I thought i'd share with you a couple more cards i've made featuring the awesome Rio images from Simply B Stamps.

Here is Summer Rio...
Isn't she stunning?  I tried a new skin colour combination on her, and I love how it turned out (Tan, Cocoa, Tea Rose, Sunkissed Pink, and Light Fawn).  I used some leftover papers from my craft stash for the background, I think they are Basic Grey, they are lush whatever company they are by.  I added some washi tape, a few green pearls, and a flower embellishment, along with a few lime staples to add a little bling and texture to it.  The ticket sentiments are from Whimsy Stamps, and fit so perfectly with this image.

Next, I'l like you to meet Thanksgiving Rio...
Does that Turkey look yummy or What? Guess it depends if you like Turkey lol!!  Thanksgiving Rio is looking yummy that's for sure; I had great fun colouring her, I wanted her to look fairly traditional but with a quirky twist, so I added a little lime and bright pink to the burgundy and gold colour scheme.

And now for something completely different!!!

This is Amarantha Reading from the Steampunk Evermore Collection of images, which you can get in Rubber and Digi at Simply B Stamps right now.  I thought she would look perfect on a bookmark, so i created this corner bookmark which i think shows her off in all her beauty.

I hope you like the projects i've shared with you today, and that you manage to find some time to be creative and crafty this weekend.  Don't forget to hop over to SimplyBStamp.net to stock up on your Digis whilst they are at the great price of $3.50 each.

Thanks for visiting with me

I'm sure Chris isn't scared of a little Seagull! He just needs to Keep Calm and Carry On Walking..

How about a beach sunset stroll?

That's what is on my card tonight, everyone likes to go for a walk along a beautiful beach as the sun is setting, and the waves are lapping on the shore; even Lola Addams!

It makes sense that Lola Addams would prefer the beach at sunset, not so many silly boys and girls around, so she has plenty of quiet time to herself to plot her next deadly scheme, cos you know one day she will succeed in getting rid of Pugsley!!

Try not to get too distracted by his good looks; we don't want you to Wipeout too often.
That's all from me for now

Smell the Flowers with the Pixies and a New Release too!

Happy Thursday, Pixie Friends!  We have lots to share with you today - a fun new challenge and a brand new release over in The Pixie Dust Studio!  Let's get started: Our new challenge theme is....

We're challenging you to use flowers somewhere on your card...in the image, on the patterned paper, as embellishments, or even a sentiment that has to do with flowers!

The image I used for my card today is from the School's Out collection, released over in The Studio today; It's called Royal Teacher....

Isn't she gorgeous, and very regal.  I used some paper scraps from my stash, along with some beautiful roses, and a stamped and die cut sentiment from MFT. Royal Teacher is coloured with a mix of Letraset Promarkers & Flexmarkers.

Here's the full line up from the Schools Out Collection, definitely a must for all those graduation cards.

Thanks for visiting with me today, and don't forget to visit the rest of the Pixie to check out their gorgeous creation.

May we hop with Whimsy Stamps

It's the first of May, so it's time for some new digital releases at Whimsy Stamps, and a fun hop to showcase some of these truly wonderful images.

As soon as I saw 'Phanny' by Lia Stampz I knew I had to make a card with her.  Elephants are one of my favourite animals, and this one just makes me think of what i look like in a bathing suit; heavy on the hips but a big smile on my face. My Card is also perfect for the new challenge over at Desert Island Crafters Challenge Blog.

That's all from me, so enjoy the rest of the Hop.  Here's the full hop list in case you've missed any stops;
