Fun with Chevrons and The Cutting Cafe

This week's Inspiration from The Cutting Cafe is all about Chevrons.  I used the Chevron Background Cutting File for this card, along with the Round Square Card Base from the 7 Shaped Card Blanks Set.

I added some fuchsia holographic paper behind my chevron pattern, then wrapped some fuchsia ribbon around the background before adding it to my card base.  The corners of my background were hanging over the rounded corners of my card base, so i just used a sharp craft knife to round off my background piece to match the card.

To finish my card off I added the 'Thanks' sentiment which i'd cut from some leftover black cardstock.

I love the contrast between the holographic paper and the black cardstock, gives a really nice bold cheerful card, without too much work.

Hop over to The Cutting Cafe Blog to get some more inspiration with Chevrons from the very talented DT.

Enjoy your weekend

Who wants to be Razzle Dazzled??

If you want to be Razzle Dazzled then Miss Razz L Dazzle is definitely the lady your after; she is the creation of the very talented Rick St. Dennis, and I wanted to share with you this pretty card I made featuring her.

She is coloured with Letraset Tria and Promarkers, and mounted onto some silver mirri card.  I love the ruffles on her dress, so attempted to create my own using some turquoise crepe paper, silver ribbon, and sequin trim. I added some feathers (which i coloured with my Tria Markers) and some pearl pins for that extra bit of bling, and a silver bow to finish it all off.

Doesn't she look Divine, I'm sure she puts on one hell of a performance in whatever cabaret or showcase she's in; I wonder where in the world she's peforming, Las Vegas, Broadway, The Moulin Rouge, who knows!!

Putting the Punk into Steampunk with PPP and SimplyBStamps!!!

Are you ready for Poisoned Peas Please (PPP) Challenge #7? We have another fun one for you for the month of September. We want to see your “Steampunk” artwork. You can make any kind of art, but it must be “Steampunk.” Your art work could be the Steampunk style with the clothing, the gears, the clocks, etc. We want to see your Steampunk style. Our “Steampunk” Challenge #7 runs until Saturday, Oct. 6.

Our fantastic and very talented sponsor this month is Simply Betty Stamps.

Betty has given our PPP Design Team some fabulous images to work with. Betty’s prize for this challenge is three (3) images of the winner’s choice from the sheet below. These are some beautiful Steampunk images.

My Card features the beautiful Lavina from the Lavina Portrait image. I coloured her with Letraset Tria and Promarkers, before fussy cutting her out.  I then used a clocks embossing folder to emboss some mirri card which i then sanded and added some ink from my markers to colourise it.  I add Lavina to this panel before inking the edges and dipping them into copper embossing powder.

I created my card background by collaging some ETC papers from Bo Bunny, along with some copper and gold tissue paper.  I then added some stenciling to the background using a clock and cogs mask and distress ink.  I coloured a heart shaped doile with my markers before adding it to my background.  Finally i sponges some ink onto the background and poured on some copper embossing powder, and heated it with my heat gun.

I used a white card blank for my base to which i added my collaged background, after i'd added some hardware, buttons ribbon, and a skull cameo pendant.  I added my central panel and then a few orange gems to add a bit of bling.

Definitely not my normal style, but i really enjoyed getting inky and grungy; I just hope it looks steampunk enough!!

You've got 12 days left to play in our Steampunk Challenge at PPP, so why not get your inks and hardware out and have some messy fun, I'm sure you'll create something amazing to share with us.

Thanks for visiting with me today

Enjoy Every Moment

Enjoy Every Moment seemed like the perfect sentiment for this card, After a rough few weeks i've decided that's lifes too short to be sad, so I plan on Enjoying Every Moment.  That's what i did with this card, as soon as I saw this image I knew I had to get her, I'm sure you all know about my Washi Tape addiction by now!!

I made this card for the current challenge at the Saturated Canary Challenge Blog, which is all about the letter 'B'.  So here's my list of B's;

  • Blonde
  • Bo Bunny
  • Baker's Twine
  • Bottle Caps
  • Butterflies
  • Burnt Orange
  • Bling
  • Blue Eyes
  • Button
  • Bow
I think that's a pretty good list. I love how this card turned out, so bright and cheerful, I'm going to keep it on my computer table just to remind me to Enjoy Every Moment!! But it would be perfect to give to a friend too, which is why i'm entering into the latest challenge at the Digi Galore Challenge blog.

Embrace Autumn with The Cutting Cafe

This week at The Cutting Cafe we are all starting to Embrace Autumn/Fall; I have to say I love this time of year, the air has such a wonderful crisp freshness, and the colours are so beautiful.

I used the Frame Shaped Card Cutting File for my card base, for my background image I printed the Autumn Words Block from the Autumn Days Set; I coloured this with Gold and Apricot Letraset Promarkers, before cutting to fit on my card base. I distressed the edges of my paper and added some detail with a orange/red Tria marker.  I then printed, coloured and cut out the basket and leaves images from the Welcome Fall Set.  I added the basket and leaves with some foam pads to give some dimension.

Want to get into the Autumn Mood, then visit The Cutting Cafe Blog and the rest of the Design Teams Blogs for some awesome Autumnal Inspiration.

A Little Spooky Inspiration from The Cutting Cafe

This week at The Cutting Cafe we're getting into the Halloween Spirit and showcasing some of Regina's wonderful Halloween Templates and Images.

I used the Happy Halloween Word Shaped Card Cutting File, along with the spider from the Web Shaped Card Cutting File.

I can't believe how quickly this card came together, I guess I've been so used to cutting things by hand, that to have the Sizzix Eclips do it for me is just such a treat. It would have taken me ages to cut the card and all the letters out by hand, but it took a few minutes with the magic of technology.

For my card base and the spider I used some black glossy card stock from my stash.  I cut all the letters out from one 12 x 12 sheet of Spookville Paper by We R Memory Keepers. The paper had 4 6 x 6 blocks of different patterns, so I arranged my letters so I could cut the whole Happy Halloween sentiment in each segment, giving me lots of spare letters, and chance to play around with mixing the patterns on my card.

My spider is pretty plain, I think next time i make him he needs a bit more texture, but I do love him.  I used a white gel pen to give him a wonky smile, and some 'Evil Eye' beads for his eyes.

That how I created this spooky little card, for more wonderful examples of projects made with The Cutting Cafe products make sure you visit the Blog today for our weekly inspiration post, and visit the rest of the awesome DT, They've created some spook-tacular creations to inspire you.

Have a wonderful day all

DICC #37 - The Doodle Garden meets The Cutting Cafe!

I'm a little late with my DT Project for the current Desert Island Crafters Challenge; but better late than never, and I did have fun with this challenge.

Our Challenge is sponsored by The Doodle Garden, who have some very cute images.

Remember, you need to use at least 3 of the items on the itinerary in order to play.

Challenge Intinerary
  1. Plaid/Tartan
  2. Books
  3. Pens & Pencils - as embellishments or to colour with!!
  4. Alphabet
  5. Numbers
  6. Apple for the Teacher
  7. Something New
  8. Let's Play
  9. Anything but a Card
  10. Bright Colours

Here's my finished card;
I used the adorable School Days Girl image from the Doodle Garden, isn't she cute.  I couldn't resist playing with my new toy (Sizzix Eclips) so I made a shaped card using the Bus Shaped Card Cutting File from The Cutting Cafe. The Little Girl image is coloured with my favourite Pens (Letraset Promarkers).  I added a little detail to my Bus with a black fineliner pen.

I figured the Bus didn't need any more embellisment, so i left it pretty plain.  Adding my image with some foam pads, so she's slightly in front of the Bus.

I'd like to enter my card into the following challenges;

That's all from me for today

Two Amazing Years...

Two years ago today, the 5th September 2010 I was lucky enough to have the honour of announcing I was joining the Simply Betty Challenges Design Team.  I've had a wonderful time working with the amazingly talented Betty Roberts, and her group of awesome design team members; but it's time for me to move on.

I really am one of the luckiest people in blogland, as I've had the great honour and pleasure of working with Betty's images for the past two years, and i've enjoyed colouring every single one.  So I thought i'd create this little Thank You card.

I want to Thank Betty for the wonderful opportunity she gave me, and for being one of the best friends i could ever wish for; It's been a privileged to get to know you, and I look forward to many more years of friendship.

I want to Thank the past and present members of the SBS & SCC Design Team, I've loved working with you all, each of you has an amazing talent, and have inspired me at some point over my time with SBS.  Thank you for all the friendship, encouragement, and laughs.

Finally I want to Thank all the SBS customers who have taken the time to visit my blog over the past two years and leave me comments.  I appreciate every single comment that has been left, and thank you for your encouragement and friendship.

I've no definitely plans for the future other than crafting away as always.  My focus will just be a little different, I'm looking forward to playing with all the awesome images I have in my collection that I've only used once or twice, so you'll still be seeing lots of SBS creations from me, I'll just be playing along with the challenges instead of setting them.

Thank You All for Everything
See you around Blogland

The Cutting Cafe: Rain Boots or Wellies??

What do you call them? Rain Boots or Wellies??  At The Cutting Cafe they have a Rain Boot Shaped card, and that is our featured set this week.

To me they will always be Wellies, I remember having some bright red ones when i was a child.  If I could design my own Wellies now, they would look something like this;

These are definitely 'Suzi' Wellies, Bright Pink, with a funky pattern, some super cute skulls, and a little bit of bling.  I cut my shaped card and all of it's pieces out of 300gsm Diamond White Cardstock using my Sizzix Eclips.  I then coloured the pieces with my Letrast markers before embossing the boots with a cuttlebug embossing folder (from the Rock Chick Set, I think!!) to which I added some distress ink.   I then layered all my pieces together adding two cute Skull flatbacks (Ebay from China) and a few pretty gems.

I love how my wellies turned out, I think i might use this wee card as a bookmark, as it's the perfect size, now i just need to decide on a book to read!!

Hop over to The Cutting Cafe Blog to see what the rest of the DT have done with this lovely card template.

Things get Spooky when SBS meets The Cutting Cafe!!

Today I've been playing with my brand new toy, a Sizzix Eclips, and I love it already.  It comes with it's own special version of the Sure Cuts A Lot Software, and makes using SVG Cutting Files a piece of cake.

So I thought i'd combine products from two of my fave companies for a fun card today;
My image is 'Witch Ariel' and is from the Jude and Rockers Halloween Collection by SimplyBStamps.  She's available along with the rest of the collection in digi form until Midnight PST Sunday 2nd Sept.

My card base is from the SpiderWeb Shaped Card Set by The Cutting Cafe

Ariel is coloured with my Letraset Promarkers and Flexmarker, then fussy cut, and stuck to the front of my web shaped card.  The sentiment is from last years Halloween sentiments by SimplyBStamps.net

As for embellishments, well I didn't think it needed any, so I guess it could class as a Clean and Simple card! Either way I love how it turned out.

I'm entering my card into the following challenges;
C.R.A.F.T. Challenge - Shaped Card Challenge
Paper Crafting Journey - Anything Goes
I <3 Promarkers - Anything Goes
Simon Says Stamp Challenge - Anything Goes
Perfect Sentiments Challenge - Anything Goes + must have sentiment on front of card
Party Time Tuesday - Anything Goes

Thank you for visiting with me today
Bye for now
